MESDAN S.p.A was founded by Cav. Daniele Messa in 1952. Based in Salo as a manufacturing company it initially specialised in the production of textile hand knotters and since the very beginning has been devoted to the development and increase of its range of products to meet the requirements of yarn joining in the textile market.
In the sixties, the company became a qualified mechanic industry which, under the creative impulse of Cav. Daniele Messa's son Pietro developed a commercial structure which spread throughout the world to reach the main textile markets.
In those years, MESDAN was also very busy developing reliable mechanical knotters suitable to meet the needs of the new automatic winding machines.
Since the beginning of the seventies, MESDAN became established as a consolidated industrial reality of international prestige and in 1975 it was decided to transform its corporate structure into S.p.A. (joint-stock company).
By sheer devotion to development and the increase of productive capacity, by the end of the decade MESDAN were the suppliers of knotters to almost all manufacturers of automatic winding machines throughout the world.
The eighties are characterised by the 'knot free' yarn joining technology ("splice") and Renato Zanca (successor to Pietro Messa as Managing Director) leads the company to the realisation of an innovative range of splicing devices capable of being used as handfitting units or mounted on automatic and manual machines, soon becoming internationally recognisable by the trademarks of "Jointair" and "Aquasplicer".
Moreover, thanks to the world leadership attained by the company in the production of yarn joining devices and to its 40 years of experience in the textile field, Mr. Zanca decided to diversify the company activity by entering the business of textile laboratory equipment to meet the growing demand in the market for Quality control and guarantee.
Beginning in the Nineties, MESDAN became established in the Laboratory equipment field and made commercial alliances with the most important companies in this sector.
By the acquisition of Osvaldo Fessia's Omac SNC company, specialists in the production of Lab equipment for the control of yarns and fabrics, MESDAN opens its new department known as MESDAN LAB which is now producing and marketing a huge range of equipment for the analysis of textile material and offers qualified customer assistance including the planning of complete laboratories and equipment certification.
In the year 2002, MESDAN S.p.A. celebrated its 50th. anniversary, and with renewed devotion continues to invest in important financial and human resources for the benefit of customers and for the development and introduction of new technologically advanced products for the textile industry.
